Information for teachers For those teachers who are concerned with 'getting through the syllabus' and are less than convinced of the relevance of the project the following information might be of use : (i) The Tenerife Project is designed to support and to be integrated into the normal course of teaching. The teaching objectives can still be achieved . The Tenerife Project provides another means by which the objectives can be achieved. (ii) The Tenerife Project provides a number of ways by which you can extend the teaching and learning styles, and thereby make the objectives more accessible to more students. There is a greater opportunity to increase the 'value-added' for all students. (iii) By extending the learning environment far beyond the classroom, your subject becomes suddenly more relevant to the students, more interesting and is related to the everyday world, supporting and complementing the use of text books, videos, overhead projectors, chalk , and dry board markers! (iv) Some of the activities are suitable for project/homework assignments. (v) Online activities can take place outside of normal lesson time. Apart from the library , Lab P1 is available at Main Building, and Lab1 at Broadway. All have Internet connections. (vi) It is effectively, by the combination of its extended 'global' classroom and communications technology, a catalyst for the generation of interest and enthusiasm in your subject. |
